Enermax Temperature Monitor

-How Does It Work?-

The wire for the temperature probe is approximately 3 feet in length.  I have a server tower and it could reach anywhere I wanted it to go, so I don't think the length of the wire will be an issue.  I put it on my CPU because I can then compare it with the temperature BIOS gives me via my ABIT Temperature Probe (provided with my KA7-100).  They were a little off as you can see in this picture below.  BIOS said 33c while the temp probe said 36.2c.

This leads me to believe one of two things.  First, one of the probes is broken (which I doubt since I sat here looking at both fluctuate while the CPU was warming up).  Or second, the Enermax probe is more sensitive.  I would believe the second before I would the first.  I'm glad to know the true temperature now.  Then again, it would have been nicer if it dropped instead of raised .

One last thing I want to mention is that the faceplate which held the two LCD screens did not fit in the bezel of my case (Addtronics 7896-A--it wasn't long enough).  This made me mad because I always thought it would be nice to put this in front of my 5.5inch hard drive since that bay has already been used.  The hard drive is sunken far enough back in the case to where I could put just the faceplate with the two LCD screens on in front of it.  But I can't do this without it falling out of the bezel.  The only way for me to put this in my computer now, is to actually put it in a 5.5inch bay that is not already used with the drive rack.  But I am glad that it does have the capacity to hold a 3.5inch hard drive or two 80mm fans or else it would be a total waste of space!  Especially to those that have smaller cases.

-Final Thoughts-

What can I say?  It does the job it's supposed to do and does it effectively.  Not only does it tell you the temperature of two separate devices but it doubles as both a hard drive rack and a fan cage.  The first thing that bugs me, though, is that the faceplate alone didn't fit in the bezel of my case.  So why did they make it detachable?  My guess is that it will fit in the majority of cases, but you never know.  Just something to think about.  And Second, it's a tad pricey for me but if you are into these types of gadgets you'll begin to notice you can sink a ton of money into this stuff.  Overall, for the price it's not bad.  It'll be tough to find another product that will compete in it's "class" and that is as cheap as this is.

Something should be said about CrazyPC.com, also.  A friend of mine is the one that sent me the goods to do the review and this is what he said about them:

"Shipping was via priority mail and very quick. Packaged very very well too. Better than what was needed here."

So it sounds like they have good packaging methods and they accept Visa or MasterCard, Money Orders, Personal Checks, and PayPal.  Their terms seem very reasonable and they look like a good business.  I give the Enermax Temperature Monitor a 8.5 out of 10
