EverGlide Giganta Mouse Pad
-How Does It Work?-
I had switched from a ball mouse to an optical mouse about the same time I received my first EverGlide Quake3 mouse pad and I had the chance to use both mice. I was surprised how smooth my ball mouse felt on the surface, I was actually thinking of taking my optical mouse back because it felt so good, but then I tried it with my IntelliMouse Explorer and it was even better. Without the drag of a ball, it just "glides" ,as the title suggests, over the surface.

Now, some of you might be wondering how the optical mouse works on the textured surface, since optical mice do require a certain type of surface. Well, I've been using my old EverGlide Attack Pad for about a year now and for the past 4 months, I've used my Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer with it and have had no problems. What I have noticed, however, is by switching to the new mouse pad, I've noticed my old one was "worn" and doesn't glide across the surface as smooth as it does on the new one. So, yes, the surface will get worn, as would any surface. But to tell the truth, I would have never known it was "dull" if it weren't for receiving the new one!
The Giganta also has 5 non-skid
pads on the bottom to keep it from sliding all over your desk. With a
clean desk, free of dust, it will not move. However, after time, if your
desk is like mine, it will build up dust and dust will soon find its way on the
non-skid pads and you'll notice it starts to wander. The remedy is
simple. Clean your desk and mouse pad! That's the beauty of it, it's
so simple. Which it should be, a mouse pad is not a complicated device
.

One last thing worth mentioning is that all the way around the mouse pad, there is a beveled edge which makes it a lot more comfortable. My old Attack Pad doesn't have the longer grade slope as the Giganta and I've found that the Giganta is a lot more comfortable. I still like my Attack Pad, but I think I'm going to give this one to a friend now, the Giganta is not only smoother, but it's bigger and more comfortable.
-Final Thoughts-
Well, I'm sitting here trying
to think if there is anything I can mention that other reviews haven't said
already and there isn't anything, I don't think. I mean, it's a mouse pad
for heavens sake! There's not too awfully much you can say
.
I will say this though. For about $20, you can't go wrong. This will
be a mouse pad that will not fall to tatters and have to be "renewed"
every three months or so. Possibly every year if you really must have that
incredibly smooth surface all the time. I'll tell you what though, my year
old Attack Pad still is great and the only real reason I'm not going to be using
it anymore, is because the Giganta is more comfortable. Yes, it's
smoother, but only by a touch.
Something should be said about CrazyPC.com, also. A friend of mine is the one that sent me the goods to do the review and this is what he said about them:
"Shipping was via priority mail and very quick. Packaged very very well too. Better than what was needed here."
So it sounds like they have good packaging methods and they accept Visa or MasterCard, Money Orders, Personal Checks, and PayPal. Their terms seem very reasonable and they look like a good business. I give this mouse pad a 9.5 out of 10 The only "bad" aspect of it is that it's a tad pricey but I would say it's definitely worth it. Specially since you won't ever have to buy another mouse pad again!
PROS:
very big
works with both ball mice and optical mice
doesn't slide around on your desk
comfortable
very smooth for the ultimate in browsing and gaming
CONS:
a tad expensive for no more than it is (plastic!)
< 9.5 out of 10 >
