LightTape

Lighting the way to the future

The new LightTape custom case lighting tape surpasses anything (Glow Wire & Cold Cathode) else currently available to modders today.  They come in 4 colors.  Two shades of Blue (dark and light), Red, & Green.

I bet you are asking, “What the heck is a LightTape anyway?”  To put it simply, it’s the thinnest, most configurable, presticky, and light up your whole case lighting system that I have ever seen.

First, you can get a general idea of its size from the picture above. It is exactly 7/16 of an inch wide &  .020 thick, apx. the thickness of a flash card.  Think about this stuff like a role of Scotch tape.  You can just role it out and stick it with its self-adhesive backing.  So you are thinking there has to be a catch right?  Let me guess it gets really HOT, only last two months, or is really dim.  Answer no to none of those.  The tape its self produces no heat, last 3 years straight, and is extremely bright.
That's right, I said NO HEAT, and only claims to use a milli-amp power. It utilizes a small black power converter (about 1 inch x 1 inch x 3 inches) that takes the 12 volts from your computer's power supply and converts it into what the LightTape needs. Anyone who has installed a Cold Cathode light knows what I am talking about. This converter is the same size. Well let’s get onto the good stuff.

Well, that wraps up the specs. As I'm sure you can guess, the possibilities for LightTape are just about endless.

I must say that this is about as cool of a light mod you can get.  Not to mention even though they have a burn life of 15,000 hours, they will never burn out like a bulb can.

Bulb-type light is going to generate heat, and that heat is going to go right into your case, where you don't want it, unless you use your PC to keep the room warm in winter. But in all honestly, we have a hard enough time keeping the heat out as it is! There is NO heat with the LightTape. On the other hand the transformer makes a small amount of heat but nothing major.  It is suggested to put the transformer at the top of your case but I found it best to put it at the bottom front right behind the fan so it cools off right away.  Also the transformer makes a little whine noise.  Once you turn your PC on you can not hear this over the sound of fans.  And when left on for a while the whine gets softer…maybe after warming up?

These things are weatherproof.  Just increasing the usefulness of this fine product.  Light up your water reservoir.

So with all this said I bet you have a few questions.

What is this stuff made of?  Ever see a Simpson’s episode where Homer is Glowing from the Radiation?  Well here is another use for nuclear waist.  Just Joking!!!  In all honestly I have not been able to find out all they say is it is low wattage stuff that lights up.  So I guess that is what it is.

Where can I buy this miracle product?  Our main man Scott over at HighSpeedPC will hook you up.
