Now when I received this I was quite surprised. It came in a nice box with pictures of the heatsink, instructions on how to mount it and it actually had the specs on the side of the box! A nice touch I might add, wish that more heatsink makers would do this. Also included was a small syringe of heatsink compound and a case sticker. The Super Silent Pro is just your basic all aluminum heatsink. Nothing real fancy about it. Nice smooth finish on the bottom coupled with a 80mm fan on the top.

As usual I had to disect this one. As you can see in the pictures below, this heatsink doesn't use the normal mounting clip that we see on just about every heatsink out there. This one actually goes up and over the top of the heatsink. If you look at the pictures below you'll notice the little tab that the clip mechanism goes over. Those tabs are in line with the core and when the clip is installed it pushes against those to put the tension on the whole thing. And to top it off it uses all 3 of the socket lugs! I found this to work very well actually. The heatsink was nice and secure and I wouldn't hesitate to take this to a lan party and worry about the heatsink falling off.

The installation of this was pretty straight forward. Hook the rear clip, set the heatsink down flat on the core and clip the front down. Because of the way that the clip is designed it made it a real easy install. The front of the clip is hinged and has a nice big tab on it which made it real easy to grab ahold of and pop it over the lugs on the socket. I did however run into a minor problem. Because of the way the clip is designed it allows the heatsink to move from the front to back. Once the clip is all locked down it doesn't do this. When I had the back clip hooked the heatsink slid forward on me. I was glad that I caught this or I might have had a cooked chip because the base of the heatsink actually slid up on the socket some causing it to only contact about 1/3rd of the core. It didn't move more than a quater of an inch but it was just enough to cause problems if not caught.

With all of this said I think its time to throw some heat at it and see how well it really does!
