A Closer Look (cont.):

Keeping things simple as they have so far, opening the case is a breeze.  Simply undo the two silver finger screws located on the rear of the case and slide the top off.  Inside the enclosure, we find the included cable for the power supply, the manual, an assortment of mounting screws, and a very nice Antec cloth for keeping the Overture free of blemishes (seen next to MX700 for size comparison).

The Overture comes with a very nice TruePower 380w power supply which employs the Antec New Low Noise Technology. This power supply has dedicated fan only power connectors which allows the power supply to control the speed of the case fan to ensure lower noise levels.  The power supply is also mounted in a completely different location than expected.  It’s in front of the case.  However the power connector is still mounted at the rear of the case.  The power supply is located underneath the 3.5” drive bay holders seen in the lower right hand corner of the above enclosure picture.

The enclosure accomodates up to (3) 3.5" drives through the use of a single drive cage.  Each section of the drive cage uses small rubber washers to help reduce hard drive vibrations. The cage is mounted behind the exhaust fan which pulls air over the hard drives to assist in cooling the drives (you can see a better look at how this works in the picture below).  The drive cage is removed by removing two screws and sliding the cage out providing easy access to the drives.

Installation for the motherboard was very easy and the Overture has plenty of space for an install. The only complication I ran into was installing the 5.25” drive cage back into place after running all of the wires.  The front I/O panel wires were also kind of difficult to work around when installing the motherboard.  All in all though, the installation process was simple.  And the location of the drive cages to the motherboard was very convenient.  This case would be ideal for the shorter 12” rounded cables that are usually useless in your standard tower cases.
