Final Thoughts on Antec Performance TX1050B

The Performance TX1050B is a solidly built case that definitely fits in the category for which it's named. Like a large monolith rising from the sand is a fairly large case. The front bezel offers access points for you to hook up your USB/Firewire peripherals as well as a pair of headphones or a microphone. The blinding blue LEDs provide an obvious signal that your computer is alive.

On the inside of the case you’re provided with plenty of room for external and internal drives. The space inside shows no changes from the Performance two line which is good. The included 120mm fan helps to move air through the case and keep things cool. And the option to add 3 more 80mm into the mix is also very nice.

While the Performance TX line is definitely a great addition to Antec's line of enclosures, there are a few things that this case could benefit from. The ability to use a 120mm fan in front instead of the 80mm fans the case is designed for. The addition of rubber washers to help prevent vibration and noise from the internal and external drives. I also noticed that the new door hinge sometimes causes the door to hang requiring a bit of extra pressure to the side to get the door open. And while the CPU duct is great for most CPU Socket locations, I found it did not meet up with my A64 motherboard. This may be an isolated issue.

Pros:

~ Convenient drive mounting system
~ Sturdy construction.
~ Tooless and lockable side panel. Allows for easy removal and prevents unwanted access.
~ USB/Firewire/Audio ports in front bezel
~ Include 120mm Rear Fan
~ Modular Power Supply. Only use the cables you need.

Cons:

~ CPU Duct may not match up with some A64 Motherboards.
~ New hinge sometimes causes difficulty opening door.
~ Lack of rubber washers to prevent noise as found in the Overture and Sonata cases.

A big thanks to for allowing us to review this new enclosure. Keep up the good work!
