Not only does the Enermax UC-A5FATR2 control up to six fans, but it also includes two temp sensors which can be used for reading the temperature from things like your cpu and hard drive. The blue backlit LCD reports temperature and fan RPM and has a over heat & low RPM alarm. And since the inside is mostly hollow you can place a hard drive there, or as CrazyPC suggests "it can be used to mount 2 x 80mm fans to become a hard drive cooler".

Installation is quite simple since most is already put together. You slide the panel in a free 5.25" bay, then secure it with the included screws. Connect a molex from your power supply to the panel, connect up to six fans and place the temp sensors where you want them. The sensors are not thin enough to place under a cpu so unless you trim the plastic, you'll need to place it in the heatsink fins or possibly between the heatsink and cpu (but not on the raised cpu core) .

The LCD monitor will show the fan speed of each fan and the rpms along with the temperature readings. Though you'll need to use the mode buttons on right side of the LCD display (read the included easy manual) to get all the readings. Please note; all the fan connectors are 3pin male connectors. If you intend to use 4 pin then you will need 4-3 pin adapters. It doesn't say the actual voltage rating for how large of fans you can attach to it. But since the connectors are all 3 pin I assume it's for the standard 80mm fans and nothing like a tornado or delta fan.

Final Thoughts~
The Enermax UC-A5FATR2 Fan Controller does exactly what it is suppose to. It does control up to six fans and the range of fan speed monitoring is between 1000-5000 rpm. I'd move the rotating knobs and the fan speed would increase or decrease, as it should. And naturally the noise level would be effected too. Which of course if the main reason for having a fan controller. Having the rpm show in the LCD display is a plus. It isn't vital, but it's nice to see.
From what I can tell, the temp sensors are as accurate as the others I have. And seeing the temp in a blue backlit display is a plus. And being backlit, it's easy to read at night. And you can set it to show temps in either fahrenheit or centigrade. Something that very few other monitors do, if any.
Pros~
- Well built
- Variable control for up to 6 fans
- Shows rpm for each
- Reads temp for 2 devices
- shows temp in either (F) or (C)
- Looks good
Cons~
- Only has 3 pin connectors
- Temp sensors aren't thin enough for under cpu placement
Thanks goes out to the great people over at CrazyPC for making this review possible. Direct link to the Enermax UC-A5FATR2 Fan Controller. It does what it advertises very well and looks sharp to boot!
