Introduction:

Many power users spend a lot of time tweaking their PC's for maximum performance. We spend money purchasing the best motherboards, processors, memory - the list goes on and on. To protect our investment, we spend even more money on various cooling solutions. Unless you are the owner of a SCSI system, chances are your hard drive's cooling may be neglected. SCSI owners know that with many of today's drives going beyond 10,000RPM, heat threatens to shorten the life of their equipment. As for regular IDE hard drive owners, some may not realize exactly how warm their drives can get when in use. There was a time when drives were 5400RPM and ran nice and cool. Now it's fairly common to find 7200RPM drives in our systems and I can assure you, they run quite warm.

This is where a company called Cremax comes in. Cremax provides various lines of drive enclosures dedicated to providing protection for your SCSI and IDE devices. Today, we'll be looking at their new Icy Dock Bodyguard 525(MB228MGF) multi-function transfer rack. Now the name "multi-function transfer rack" seems to be a deceiving and does not really reveal what the product truely is. The Icy Dock is a FIXED HDD rack that resides in an available 5.25" slot in your case. Before we continue, let's take a look at what the drive rack's specs are:
