The Test~

The testing will be done at default speed and voltage and also overclocked to the max with the Vcore cranked at 1.95v to work up some heat. As a comparison, since the stock fan was also included in the package I will be putting it back on and running the same tests with it to give you an idea of how Extreme it really is. Idle temps will be taken after 15 min of a cold boot and loaded temps will be taken after 45 min of running Prime95. Ambient room temp is 72F.

Conclusion~

A load temp of 98C 1.57 Gig and 1.95v's is a very good temp to have on a Thunderbird.  I thought I was doing good with my Senfu at 115F with this chip before.  To my surprise this 80mm 68CFM Delta is nowhere near as loud as its little brother. Main reason why is because it doesn't have that high pitch whine which so many people can't tolerate.  It was one of the fans I hated using because of that.  But this EXTREME will lay atop my Athlon for a while and its a sure-fire winner with me!  The only bad thing I have to say about it is its size and that no grill is included. The 80mm Fan on some boards poses a minor problem but its nothing u can't get around for the serious air cooling this puppy puts out. No grill was included so use "extreme" caution when the system is turned on, that fan will be like a blender on any fingers.

As you can see the Dr Thermal EXTREME is well, very EXTREME not only because of it's superior performance but it's King Kong sized fan! It's one kick-butt cpu cooler if there ever was one! Thanks goes to our friends at CrazyPC Computers for sending us this fine specimen of a cooler!
