Just when you thought you had every possible fan known to man in your PC, along comes Thermaltake's Active Memory Cooling Kit. Let's face it, with the popularity of case modding on the rise, anything that looks good and rotates is something that should be considered. Who knows, it might even be functional! I was a bit skeptical with regard to the functionality aspect yet, at the same time, was intrigued by the concept. Afterall, forcing air across your RAM could, in theory, be beneficial. We'll get into the practical matters in a bit. Let's first look at the specs, the box and what comes in it.

The specs are:
P/N - A1165
Fan Dimension - 40x40x20mm
Rated Voltage - 12V
Started Voltage - 7V
Rated Current - 0.11A
Power Input - 1.32W
Fan Speed - 5000±10% R.P.M
Air Pressure - 1.50mm- H2O
Max. Air Flow - 5.1CFM
Noise - 23dBa
Bearing Type - Sleeve Bearing
Lift Time - 30,000 Hours
Connector - 3Pin
You'll notice that there seems to be alot more technical information than you would normally see with your garden variety heatspreaders. That's because there's a FAN mounted on one of them. Yes indeed, we're talking active cooling here kids. Now I'm not sure that a fan with a max air flow rating of 5.1CFM is stong enough to blow a round pencil off of a flat desk, but the fact is, anytime you increase the airflow over ANY PC component, it has to be better than the darn thing sitting there sweating to death. The first thing any overclocker will tell you is that if something is running too hot, you better get a fan on it. Sound advice. Be that as it may, this contraption obviously isn't going to mount itself, so we better see what's in the box.
