Today we will be looking at Abit's new entry into the AMD realm featuring the newly-released VIA chipset. The Abit KV7, it is based upon the new VIA chipset the KT400b, err um KT600. This board has it all, USB2, SATA 150 RAID, ATA 133, FSB 400, DDR 400, 8x AGP, 6-channel audio, S/PDIF out, and onboard 10/100 LAN.

ABIT started out in 1989 and has since grown into one of the largest motherboard manufactures in the world. ABIT is run by a bunch of great innovators and forward thinkers. They introduced the first soft bios (jumper-less board), the first dual Celeron board, In 2k1 ABIT out grew their earlier headquarters and moved into a larger state-of-the-art building just outside Taipei. Also during the same time period they opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in China to help feed the PC consumer Beast we are all a part of.

VIA on the other hand has been out of the AMD lime light for a while (about 9 months) with the Nvidia Nforce2 chipset taking much of the news with its blazing speed, awesome audio, and integrated products (audio, usb2, eide, video, FireWire, dual channel DDR 400, and LAN). Will VIA be able to re-enter the market with a BANG or is this another too-little-too-late entry into the market (SIS anyone)?
