Introduction:

One of the most vital parts of a modern day computer is the power supply. With the new CPUs out on the market consuming more power than ever, it is important to have a PSU that is capable of handling these power-hungry systems. Many of us do not have a simple system comprised of a cd-rom, HDD, a couple of case fans like that of a store bought computer. In many cases, we have 2-3 HDDs, DVD-ROMs, CDRW drives, DVD recorders, and a plethora of high speed case fans capable of turning our case into an expensive hover craft.

AMD has their own list that shows certified PSUs that will work with their processors. I've seen some motherboards that would absolutely bring the 5v rail to its knee's on weaker PSUs when the CPU would be overclocked and voltages raised up to stablize the chip. This would cause random reboots or hardlocking in Windows. Therefore, it is essential that your PSU is able to handle the demand from all of the goodies in your case.

Today I'll be taking a look at the Raidmax 400W PSU. This PSU is a modder's dream come true. It comes in a nice shiny aluminum black casing and has dual thermal controlled 80mm fans. As if that wasn't enough, these fans are Tri Lite LED fans. Unlike normal LED fans with the LEDs in the center hub, these LEDs are in the fans outer housing. As a result, the LEDs provide a glowing effect as soon as the fan blades begin to spin.
