One of the biggest concerns with a lot of people these days is fan noise. Most enthusiasts like myself tend to push the limits of their systems. When components are pushed to their limits one of the resulting factors is increased power consumption, which we all know equals more heat. So what must we do when there is more heat being produced? We must either add additional fans or use more powerful ones.

But what if we don't need all of those fans running all of the time? This is where the rheobus comes into play. These are designed to control the fans in your system. The majority of the heat is produced while the CPU is under Load. This is the most crucial point when proper cooling is most needed. While the system is sitting there idle it isn't producing near the heat that it does while it is under a load. What a rheobus does is allows you to adjust the fan speed via controlling the voltage. When the voltage is decreased the speed of the fan also decreases thus making it quieter. So by controlling your fans off of a rheobus when the loud fans aren't needed you can simply just turn them down to an acceptable noise level.

Most rheobus's only allow you to adjust the voltage from 5-12 or 7-12 volts and offer no kind of a off switch. Sunbeam has stepped up to the plate and given us what we want. The knobs in which you control the speed with, adjusts the voltage from 0-12 volts and when turned all the way to the left you will feel a "tactile" click and that channel of the bus is now completely turned off. In addition to this they have also included an dual colored led. When the knob is in the off position the led doesn't light up. From 1 to approximately 7 volts it lights up red after then it lights up a really bright blue. Since you can turn these off you could very well power a Cold Cathode light with this rheobus as well.
