Since we finally got away from the boring and blah beige cases, case modding has seen all kinds of new and fresh ideas. Some cool, some tacky. One thing most of us have now is a case window and having that case window means we need light to help show off our system. Cold cathodes lights have become really popular but now we have something a bit more unique; introducing the AngelMod Cold Cathode 80x25mm Fan Light Kit.

Specs:
- Tube diameter: 4.0 mm
- Tube dimensions: 80 mm, 34 mm
- Inverter voltage: 180-1000 V
- Current draw: 5.0 mA
- Brightness: 29,000 cd/m2
- Lifetime: 30,000 hours
Features:
- High brightness
- Long life
- High reliability
- Vibration proof
Accessories:
- 4 Fan screws
- Velcro with adhesive backing
Note: No fan is included

AngelMod Cathode Light Kit is a mod which you attach to an 80mm fan. It can be attached on either side. It's basically two small cathodes (1 small one in the center and 1 in the outer ring) and both are connected to the dual inverter. Installation is very simple; you use the included screws to attach it to an 80mm fan and/or to your case. Then plug it in to a molex connector. You turn it on or off with the included switch. Or you can control it by using a rhoebus as I do with the Sunbeam fan controller. It's one of the few that actually turns off.

Now let me tell you, these puppies are BRIGHT! I have the regular bright cold cathodes and one of these puts out more light than them. Just one shining through my side case window not only makes my whole room glow in that color, it also makes my hallway glow too. Not anoyingly bright, just a light glow. Makes one great nightlight, but not for in the room you sleep in. And since these are so bright you'll want to place them where you cannot see them directly.

The picture above on the far right is with the Ultra Violet AngelMod Light kit on a UV Fan. The UV light mostly lights up the green uv fan but as you can see it's bright enough to also light up the whole inside of the case. In the first two pictures the AngelMod is on an 80mm clear fan. All the fans/AngelMods are out of view and attached to the rear of the case hidden by the side-panel latch. In direct view the brightness of the AngelMods is too much for my camera and gives a whiteout effect.
Final Thoughts~
These are called "Cold" cathodes but they do get hot if not used with a fan. Though using them as they are intended, with a fan running, that does cool them well to where they are cool to the touch. No matter if used on the intake or exhaust side.
You want to light up your case then the AngelMods are an excellent solution. They are easy to install, very bright and from what I can see they have more actual color than other cold cathodes I have come across. Frankly, normal cold cathodes are now dead. These are better, easier to place where you want and just darn cooler looking!
Thanks goes out to SVC for providing these very cool (and bright) AngelMods for this review. Direct link to the various colored AngelMods. SVC has them in Red, Blue, Blue/Red, Green, White, Purple, Yellow and UV (Ultra Violet).
