Ultra Violet Fan Adapters

This is pretty much a Part 2 to the UV Fan Review. SVC also sent along 3 60 to 80mm fan adapters. Now what is cool about these adapters is that they are also UV Sensitive and match the fans in the previous review.

They are your basic 60 to 80mm adapter. As you can see from the pictures below it is rather easy to mount these. Just unscrew your fan from the heatsink use those screws to hold the adapters on and then attach an 80mm fan. There isn't any screws supplied with these so you will need to purchase some. In my opinion the best way to attach these would be to use a machine type screw or a wood screw and use that to hold the grill on as well as the fan to the adapter. All I could find in my shop was 2 screws that were long enough to do this but you'll get the general idea.

I was so stoked about these cool UV products that I completely failed to realize one important thing. I didn't have a heatsink with a 60mm fan on it. All 3 of my processors are using Thermalrite heatsinks with 80mm fans and as most know they don't use screws to hold on the fans. So I started digging and found a Retail AMD heatsink that worked out perfect. I would have liked to have installed this but I just didn't have any faith in a all aluminum heatsink with a processor running over 2 gigs so the picture below will have to do! :)

The only real downfall to using an adapter like this is that they add extra height. These particular adapters are 27mm tall, so when you add a fan that is 25mm your looking at 52mm overall and then the height of the heatsink, clearance could be a problem in certain cases. If used on a heatsink I really don't see a problem with them though.

Overall these UV adapters are just darn cool looking. If you have a heatsink that only takes 60mm fans this is a great way to add some extra air flow, possibly a more quiet fan, and at the same time add some styling to your case. It would be very easy to mix and match these fans and adapters to create some really smooth looking color schemes.
