Thermalright SLK-900-A

Of all the heatsink makers, there is one name that has been known for making the best of the best, Thermalright. From their first beast, the SK-6, to the AX-7 and then to the even more advanced SLK-800, Thermalright has concentrated on providing the best cooling for our processors. And they have succeeded to best the competition each time. They don't concentrate on looks as some do and instead go for the best cooling and actually put time and effort into design.

After the success of the SLK-800, Thermalright intruduces another beast, the SLK-900U. Heavier and larger than the SLK-800, the SLK900U bolts to the motherboard and is made to fit fans up to 92MM. But being that it bolts to the motherboard and because of the design, it doesn't fit some newer AMD mobos like the Asus A7N8X, for example. Plus the fact many of us, like me, do not like having to remove the mobo just to install a heatsink. Thermalright now has a solution to those problems, introducing the SLK-900-A. It uses a 3-prong clip instead of bolting to a mobo and with the newer design, it is not in the way of capasitors. And it does fit an Asus A7n8X.

Above you see how well Thermalright packages the SLK-900A. And most of their line of heatsinks for that matter. The box is thick corrugated cardboard and is very sturdy. And inside the main box is a cardboard insert (see below) which contains the heatsink and parts all neatly secured so they will not be moving around during shipping. This helps to assure that you do get the heatsink with no fins or clips bent. The heatsink is even placed inside a plastic bag so any moisture doesn't effect it.

Below you see what all you get with the SLK900A. You get the heatsink, foam spacer pads, rubber strips for a TMD fan, tube of silicon thermal goop and 3 sets of clips to fit assorted fan sizes from a 70MM TMD fan up to a 92MM Tornado fan.
