It wasn't long after the release of the SLK-900U that overclockers began to realize that the number of AMD motherboards the top-of-the-line heatsink would fit on was greatly numbered. Some of the leading motherboards were not compatible with it - namely the Asus A7N8X (which required major capacitor bending as seen here). What has Thermalright done to fix this? Oh, sure, the SLK-900A came out - but, what if the bolt-through-the-motherboard mounting method was preferred? (as is my case). Well, that's what the SLK-947U is here for.
The Thermalright SLK-947U is an SLK-900U redesigned to fit on to motherboards it didn't fit on before. This is definite good news for buyers that were feeling a little left out when their motherboards didn't have enough room to fit the 900U.
Let's begin by taking a look at the features and specifications burrowed directly from Thermalright's website!

Packaging & Contents
Once again, Thermalright uses their very popular "cardboard" box packaging. Why is this so cool? This box is like a rock! It'll take quite a bit to damage a heatsink in one of these boxes.
Hidden under the cardboard cover is the heatsink itself, packed with its many accessories. The heatsink and accessories have been neatly placed into a cardboard insert - ensuring that all the contents don't begin to move around during shipment.
As seen below, the box is fully loaded. The contents are actually exactly the same as the contents for an SLK-900U - even the standoffs and screws are interchangeable between the two.
In further detail, the box contains: P4 retention clips, standoffs, spring loaded screws, 2 sets of plastic washers, thermal paste, fan clips, and the X-shaped piece of metal. Rubber strips for a TMD fan and foam spacer pads. Thermalright, however, did not include instructions. But, they can be quickly found here, on Thermalright's website.
