Thermaltake Golden Orb II

As you can see from the above picture that the bottom is very smooth. Running my finger over it, it felt like a smooth mirror. Air can flow just fine through those 66 fins. The design and placement of the fan blows air out the sides and the bottom helping to cool surrounding capasitors and/or mosfets.

Installing the Golden Orb II was a piece of cake on my N-Force 3 motherboard and AMD 64 3400+ CPU. Simply clean the bottom of the heatsink and the cpu core with a lint-free cloth and alchohol, (let dry) then apply a very thin layer of your favorite heatsink compound. I used Arctic Silver 5. Then align the screws on the heatsink with those on the mobo, around the cpu. I had to remove the plastic bracket first with the AMD socket 754. Tighten both sides firmly, but evenly, so the pressure is more even. No need to over tighten.

With some motherboards, the wide size of the Orb II may prevent you from using at least one memory slot. As with the Aopen n250A-FR, I could use only 2 of the 3 memory slots. But, my intent was to use 2 512mb sticks anyway so this wasn't a problem.
