What is this, another heatsink review? Why, I'm glad you asked that question, because yes it is. But, there is a feature that really hasn't been focused on before and that is 'quietness'. Most heatsink makers want to cool a cpu the best and in trying to accomplish that they usually include or want a heatsink tested with the loudest lawnmower, err uh fan they can. Sure, with that ear-bustin' fan the heatsink does cool well. But do we really enjoy or want a loud annoying sound coming from our computer? Of course not.
Thermaltake is a company that has long been known for making cool-looking things like cases, heatsink/fan combos, etc.. But they really haven't made a heatsink/fan combo that can compete with the usual performance winners, at least untill their most recent Extreme Volcano 12. With the Silent Boost, they are going after the market that not only wants performance, but also peace and quiet. Now that's tough to do, can they do it? We shall find out.

In the blister package you get the heatsink/fan fully assembled, a pack of silicon thermal goop and very good full-color and detailed instructions with pictures. I wish all heatsink makers would do this. Many noobies are clueless and this really helps them out.
