New heatsinks never cease to keep coming out. Some good, some not so good. Others look "cool", yet performance leaves a lot to be desired. Thermaltake has always been a company that focuses on 'coolness' and that fact makes many of the younger generation Thermaltake fans. Their previous heatsink/fan combos have done fairly well at cooling but have never been near the top. Today we'll be looking at their newest and one they call the 'Extreme Volcano 12 Highest Performance Cooler'. Is it a contender or just another pretender?

Below you see what all comes with the Volcano 12. You get two fan controllers, one that fits in a 3.5" bay in the front or a slot cover for the rear. You can use either, not both. Screws to attach the fan controllers, a temp sensor that will fit under the cpu if you wish to let the fan be temp controlled, jumper and most excellent full-color and detailed instructions. Along with thermal goop.
