Dr Thermal TI-V86N

The Dr is in the house and he has the cure for an overheating cpu. The Dr Thermal line of cpu coolers are all very uniquely designed and have an interesting but very easy clip mechanism to help install the heatsink. After reviewing the Dr Thermal TI-V77L I was very eager to get a look at more Dr Thermal heatsinks which are made by Thermal Integration. The TI-V77L really caught me by surprise. Anything that looked like that certainly couldn't perform in the neighborhood as the other "known" excellent cpu coolers like the sk6 or the Coolermaster HCC-002 could it. But it did.

From reviewing many most excellent cpu coolers a few things are obvious. All copper seems to be the preferred choice because of how well copper absorbs heat. And a fast(usually lawnmower, er delta) fan is needed to get the most out of that copper heatsink because copper retains heat more than aluminum. But aluminum releases heat a little faster. What many of us who have these all-copper heatsinks do is replace that lawnmower-loud delta fan with one that still puts out a decent amount of cfm but is more quiet, like a fan off a volcano II or 5. We do this to have peace and quiet and to keep the dogs from barking and our hair from raising. But what happens if we have a heatsink that has a good amount of strategically placed copper AND aluminum along with a most interesting and clever design and with a quieter fan?
