Ever since computer cases have went away from the usual boring-blah beige cases, various mods and designs have hit the market. Then consider the case window, with that now we want things to not only be effective, but also look good and cool.

Video cards and other pci cards do get very hot as we know. Many times the included cooling just isn't enough, especially if you are wanting to overclock your video card. Vantec has released a very interesting product called the Spectrum Fan Card. It is 'active cooling' for which ever agp/pci card you wish to cool, and it looks darn cool too.

Features~Specs~

What you get is exactly what you see above and it is all already put together. You get the fan card which has two fans built in, a pass-through 4-pin molex connector, a fan control slider in the rear and screws to attach the fan card. All you do is simply place it under any pci/agp you want to cool, secure it with a scew then connect the power.

Made from UV sensitive material and featuring built-in UV LED lights the Vantec Fan card does look sharp. It is bright, but not blindingly bright to where it'll hurt your eyes if you have your case next to you all the time. Plus since it has two 70mm fans side by side, it'll cool even longer cards.

When adjusting the slider to control the fan speed, the airflow is rated 17.73 ~ 29.54 CFM. It feels more powerful than that to me, but those are the official ratings. However the noise which is rated 25 ~ 36.64 dBA, does seem accurate. It doesn't have that annoying high-pitched sound that the delta fans are known for, but you can hear it. Though on the lowest speed and if your side panel is closed, you'll not be bothered with noise. On higher speeds, you will hear it.

Testing & Final thoughts~

I'm not overclocking my video card currently but I do have a very hot running TV Tuner pci card which has zero included cooling. Without any cooling, the hottest chip on it reaches 55c. Yes I know, it gets hot. Once I placed the Vantec Fan card under it, the temp lowered to a far more tolerable 34c! Amazin! But, as you can see by the pictures, the fan card is very close to it. But still, that is awesome results.

If you are either needing or wanting good cooling for any agp or pci card then you cannot go wrong with the Vantec Spectrum Fan Card. It cools very well, the fan speed is controllable and it looks cool too. And since the fans are so powerful, this helps to add you your overall system airflow.
