The Nexus NXP-205 comes with everything you need. You have 4 20" cables that connect to the NXP-205 and they should reach to any fan in about any case easily. And on the other end you have both a 3 pin connection AND a 4 pin molex. You can only use one or the other, not both. Having both is a major plus. Many other fan controllers have just a 3 pin connection.

This is a big step forward from the NXP-201. As you can see, the insides are more and look and feel better built. And connecting the cables to it is easy since you have plenty of room. I had 4 fans connected to the NXP-205 and it only got mildly warm. I had the huge Vantec 92mm Tornado on one channel, the 80mm Tornado on another, a delta 80mm on another and a 40db 92mm fan on the 4th channel. The controls worked just fine, speed did increase or decrease when turning the knobs just as they are suppose to.

Installation is very simple. Since the NXP-205 extends out some, I found it ok to first place the fan controller in an empty 3.5" bay, secure it with the included screws, then connect the cables. From there of course you simply connect the cables to the fans of your choice. Took me about 3-4 mimutes.

Final Thoughts~
I have to admit, Vantec got it right with this Nexus NXP-205 Fan Controller. It does exactly what it is advertised to do and does so very well. Fan speed does change when you adjust the knobs. There is a slight hesitation, so the speed change isn't instant. It looks darn cool with the blue glow coming from around the knobs. Including the four cables which have both a 3-pin connection and a 4-pin molex is a major plus. And I like how it goes inside a 3.5" bay instead of a 4'5" one.
The only negative I can think of is it can control only one fan per channel. Several other fan controllers on the market can take 2-3 on each channel. Then again, how many of us have more that 4 fans we want to control.
Pros~
- Controls the speed of up to four fans
- Fits inside a 3.5" bay
- glows a soft blue around each knob (not blinding)
- Includes 4 cables that have both a 3-pin and 4-pin molex for connecting to fans
- looks very cool
- easy installation
- accepts a fan up to 18w per channel (great to quiet those Tornado fans)
- noticable resistance when turning the knobs
- available in either silver or black
Cons~
- Controls one fan per channel
Many thanks goes out to VantecUSA for making this review possible and for making a quality product. Direct link to the Nexus NXP-205. It should be available very soon from your favorite retailer.
